Some Times I Feel
The Some Times I Feel project is an obtuse investigation into gathering information and organizing data. Through this project I created a personal ritual of gathering specific subjective information of my feelings periodically throughout each day. I carried a book to write down the exact times and intensities of a specific range of feelings. It became evident that I needed tools in order to fully execute this project, so I made a pouch to carry my data collection book around my neck, and then eventually I made two dresses, a shirt and a skirt. In wearing these items I began to blur the line between my real life and my art as well as created a daily ritual and routine in which I can reflect upon how I am feeling. Once the data has been logged, I then organize it into graphs and charts. Some of these graphs and charts are then used as scores to create music. The music is a more serious outcome of a futile and somewhat humorous activity. Although this information is presented scientifically, it is a purely subjective endeavor and as the artist I acknowledge the futility of this project.
